What plane just flew over my house?

Most UK airports publish a flight tracking tool that shows the route and height of each arrival and departure, and lets you file a complaint about a specific flight. Note the time the plane passed, open the tracker for the nearest airport and replay that time. Airport tools run with a delay, so they will not show a plane that is overhead right now. Commercial trackers such as Flightradar24 and FlightAware show flights closer to live, but they are not official noise records.

Leeds Bradford Airport noise insulation

Leeds Bradford is not one of the NoiseCheck airport lookup groups, but many people search for its insulation scheme. Here is where it stands, from the airport's own pages.

  • No scheme is open now. The airport ran two noise insulation grant schemes in the past, linked to the 1981 runway extension and to 24-hour operation in 1994, and says no schemes are available at this present time.
  • A new night scheme is proposed. In August 2026 the airport announced a Night Noise Insulation Scheme as part of proposals submitted to Leeds City Council to update the planning conditions for night flights. It would offer grants towards glazing and ventilation, and funding for bedroom air conditioning in eligible homes. The proposals would also change the night period to 23:30 to 05:59.
  • Eligibility is not yet published. The airport has not published which homes would qualify or how much the grants would be, and the proposals still need a decision from Leeds City Council. NoiseCheck has not found eligibility rules or grant amounts on the airport's own pages, so treat figures quoted elsewhere as unconfirmed.
  • Night flights today. The airport has operated 24 hours a day since 1994. Its night period is 23:00 to 07:00, when only the quietest jets may operate and the number of movements is limited.
  • Complaints. Use the online form, phone or letter listed on the noise management page. The airport says complaints sent by other means may not be logged.

Reduce aircraft noise at home

Windows are usually the weakest point for aircraft noise, so secondary glazing and heavy acoustic curtains are common first steps, with door and gap sealing and loft insulation after that. Lookup membership and assigned values cannot establish overhead routes, dominant local sounds or absence of aircraft noise. Consult official airport tracking and noise maps.

How far can aircraft noise travel from an airport?

Aircraft can be audible far from an airport, depending on flight paths, aircraft, altitude, weather and local surroundings. NoiseCheck postcode values do not predict where aircraft will be heard.

What plane just flew over my house?

Does Leeds Bradford Airport offer noise insulation?

Not at the moment. Leeds Bradford Airport says no insulation grant schemes are available at present. In August 2026 it announced a proposed Night Noise Insulation Scheme as part of plans submitted to Leeds City Council; eligibility and grant amounts have not been published.

Does aircraft noise affect house prices?
